General Discussion / Re: Ralph Waldo Emerson
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:54:52 PM »
Apparently my previous post was lost.  I am interested in the soul age and role of Emerson, if anyone knows.  If there is a link to lists of famous people, I would like that also.  Thanks.

This isn't channeling, but judging from his photos, I'm fairly convinced that Emerson was a Priest. I believe Shepherd channeled that Emerson and Thoreau were essence twins, which makes some sense. I love the whole literary history of these writers, and have been to Concord, MA several times, touring their homes and the wonderful local museums in the area. I was so interested in vicariously absorbing the locale that I rented a small boat and paddled down the Concord river like Thoreau often did. That was a thrill.

I also visited Emily Dickinson's home when I was back there (in Amherst), and that was another thrill. She was channeled as a 7th old Scholar/Artisan with King casting.

Here's the link to more celebrities:

Best,
Dave

Priest makes a good deal of sense since there's a huge amount of cardinal inspiration energy around that entire group, which was mostly composed of Unitarian ministers.

I think the role and the casting can be accurately compared to sun sign and rising sign, but further than that I have not attempted to make any correlations.

Since Essence chooses the birth time, within the limits set by the choice of parents and other circumstances, it's not at all surprising that many Essences would choose a chart that reinforces the role or some of the overleaves. The numbers simply don't work out.

Sage / Re: Positive & Negative Traits of Sage
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:41:25 AM »
How great is the difference between a sage that is a good story teller and one that is a tactless bore? Is this a large divide or a fine line?

Thanks!

Sages have three inputs, one of which is the Audience. A bore's best audience is always himself.

The Seven Centers / Re: sexual center
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:39:13 AM »
why is the sexual center not listed here? is there another name for it?

The Sexual Center is the old name for the Higher Moving center, which is associated with (not the same as) the second chakra. It's one of the names that got changed because of the baggage the old name carried with it.

The Seven Attitudes / Re: Pragmatist & Realist
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:37:38 AM »
These two attitudes seem an awful lot a like to me. How can you tell the difference?

Thanks!

Pragmatist is the assimilation attitude, Realist is the exalted Action attitude. There are a lot of differences.

A realist evaluates things in terms of what action can realistically be taken (and yes, I know that's repeating the word, but if you've heard someone say "realistically..." enough times...). A pragmatist zeros in on whatever seems to be important, whether or not it requires action.

The negative poles are quite different. Realist: +objective -subjective. Pragmatist: +Practical, -Dogmatic.

Pragmatists can slide to any of the other attitudes; Realists only slide to Cynic.

Server / Re: Slave/Server?
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:31:19 AM »
Why was the terminology changed? It's written as slave throughout my MFM books.

Thanks!

Lots of people didn't like the baggage around the word slave. The newer channels changed it, and the change has pretty much stuck.

It's not the only bit of terminology that's changed. The neutral goal got changed to Flow, for example, and the Sexual Center got changed. Among others.

The best thing to do is to dig a bit: the ordinal inspirational goal is still just as ordinal and just as inspirational, whether you call it Slave, Server or Ruler From Behind The Throne. (or Tender of Children, which I've also seen.)

Astrology / Re: Michael & Astrology

While I'm here, can anything in the Michael Teachings be compared to traditional astrology?

Thanks!

In a word: no.

That doesn't mean that either is more or less valid than the other; just that trying to compare them doesn't work well. The conceptual frameworks are too different.

Within the MT, astrology is usually considered to be an expression of the life path. That is, the older, event-oriented astrology, not the newer personality oriented astrology.

Spirituality / Re: Spiritual Growth & Michael
« on: April 25, 2011, 12:23:40 AM »
Okay I will start a thread in this underused category.

Do the Michael Teachings promote spiritual growth?

Thanks!

Michael has been quite consistent in saying that they are not a spiritual path.

That said, anything that helps get through the false personality and enhance contact with Essence will promote spiritual growth.

Soul Age / Re: Soul Age. How to spot it
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:30:59 PM »
I love having a clean house, but I haven't yet mastered the zen of making housecleaning into a valuable spiritual exercise that I like doing. Maybe when I become a famous opera singer, we can afford to have a maid ;D

Chuckle!

My mother never regarded housekeeping as "spiritual." She simply thought it was something that had to be done, so she learned how to do it as efficiently as possible so it took up as little time as possible. (Early Young King - you can see the mastery pole.)

Soul Age / Re: POLL: What is Your Soul Age?
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:25:24 PM »
Perhaps an interesting note: Varda Hasselmann is a german channeling medium and conducts seminars since about 25 years. There, also the soul ages of her seminar participants will be channeled. She says her participants are between Mature2 and Old4. About in every second seminar she has an Old5-soul. Old6 she has seen only once, Old7 never in all this years.

That's a pretty general experience. People usually don't get interested in the spiritual until mid-cycle Mature when they've finally jettisoned the bulk of Young soul materialistic beliefs. There's also a tendency for late-level old to not show up in the teaching for various reasons. When Sarah Chambers (the "Jessica Lansing" of the Messages books) reentered the teaching a few years before she died, she said there was a lot of soul age inflation going on.

For most people, I think the personality overleaves are much more useful than soul age, except in the broad brush strokes. I maintain an attitude of mild skepticism to most channeling that says someone is a late level old soul. Not that I think I can do better or have a better idea, it's just that I suspect there may be some maya lurking around.

Bodytypes / Re: Question about a Joel Friedlander book
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:14:02 PM »
I checked a book out from the library called Body Types, by Joel Friedlander.  It was published in 1986, is based on Gurdjieff's Fourth Way, and covers body types such as Lunar, Venusian, etc.  If I study this book, will it send me in the wrong direction when it comes to Michael Teachings, as in, did MT break away somewhat from these ideas or change or expand on them?  The only thing I know at this point is that the names of the body types are the same in the book and MT.

I'm not familiar with the Gurdjieff treatment, however the body types in the MT are pretty generally recognized as being derived from the Gurdjieffian concept, as are the Chief Features. I wouldn't think you'd go too far wrong.

Soul Age / Re: Soul Age of Jesse Woodson James
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:09:03 PM »
I think that is the penetrating stare of the Crazy Violent Sociopath rather than the Very Old Soul. There is an extreme hardness in those eyes, you do NOT see that in old souls.

I'd say that's a sociopath, or at least someone with a very strong and self-centered will.

Previous Cycles / Re: Grand Cycles
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:02:23 PM »
Hope this isn't a dumb question, but I've read the Michael books, and I can't recall anything about Grand Cycles.  Did I just miss it in the readings?  Where did the idea of Grand Cycles come from?

I don't remember it from the Messages books; it entered the teaching from some of the non-Yarbro channels and it's in some of the other books. Shephard discusses it in his books, and calls the part that carries over from one Grand Cycle to the next the spark.

Past Lives & Reincarnation / Re: Cycles, Ages & Levels
« on: April 19, 2011, 02:26:28 PM »
WOW!  Astral Incarnation CPAs  .  .  .  or maybe more like Soul Age College Guidance Counselors  .  .  .  yeah, that's the ticket!  Did he say if those specialists were predominantly of any particular Role?  (like - Scholars would make sense, right?) or if they were at any common Level in either of the two non-corporeal Soul Ages?  Always curious [damn Sages in Growth, always wanting to stuff their mental gullets with 'grindage' (Pauly Shore)]

At a certain point in your evolution, you decide what you want to specialize in. Most learn how to be guides, but some specialize in other things. Setting up lifetimes is one, exploring new planets to find pre-sentient species that would provide good hosts is another. I think he mentioned one more that I've forgotten, and there are probably others.

General Discussion / Re: Native Americans
« on: April 18, 2011, 11:41:08 PM »
Does anyone know if Michael has channeled any general information on Native Americans as far as Soul Levels and Roles at the time America was discovered and settled and through the Manifest Destiny period? ...and this would be in contrast to the settlers?  Are there specific individuals that stand out from the generalization--special chiefs for example?  Any channelled information as to whether this has changed in today's environment?  As Newbie, I've acquired lots of books and am so grateful for the MT site, but I have not, so far, come across any reference to the above...and I'm interested in the big picture of Michael teaching.  Thanks anybody!

There was some material in J.P.s Advanced Class back in the 80s, but I don't remember enough to make a coherent summary. The big thing I'd say is to take a look at the general social mileau as far as it's known, because societies tend to support the needs of the people who live in them. For example, hunter-gatherer societies are very heavy with Infant souls because they're ideal for the kind of raw survival lessons that the early Infant soul needs. A lot of the Eastern seaboard cultures in North America look like Baby soul cultures.

The Aztec and Inca were most likely Baby and Young, but I find it hard to believe that Pizzaro would have been able to conquer the Incas with a couple hundred men and some not very functional guns if they were young souls. His armor wouldn't have mattered: a Young soul culture would have buried him alive under a human wave.

There are always Mature and Old souls that incarnate in those cultures, both for the experience and as teachers; those are the ones you tend to hear about.
