Internal Monads / Re: Internal Monads

These are a couple of quotes from the first book.

As John points out below, these have to do with external monads:

What exactly are monads, sequences, and agreements?
A MONAD IS AN ESSENTIAL UNIT, A NECESSARY
EXPERIENCE.  THEY OFTEN TAKE MORE THAN ONE LIFE
TO ACCOMPLISH.  BOTH CHEMISTRY AND PHILOSOPHY
TEACH THAT A MONAD IS ELEMENTAL AND
INDIVISIBLE.  THERE ARE A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF
MONADS, SOME OF THEM INTERPERSONAL, SOME OF
THEM INTRAPERSONAL.
THE MOST COMMON MONAD IS PARENT/CHILD AND
STUDENT/TEACHER THE PARENT/CHILD MONAD IS
USUALLY ACCOMPLISHED IN THE YOUNG-SOUL CYCLE,
THE STUDENT/TEACHER MONAD IN THE MATURE- AND
OLD-SOUL CYCLES.  THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL
SUCH RELATIONSHIPS ARE MONADAL.  THE MONAD IS
DONE ONLY ONCE.  IN OTHER WORDS, THERE IS ONLY
ONE TIME THAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE CHILD SIDE
OF THE PARENT/CHILD MONAD, AND ONLY ONCE THAT
YOU WILL EXPERIENCE THE PARENT SIDE.  YOU WILL
EXPERIENCE THESE MONADS WITH THE SAME SOUL.  THE
TEACHER WHO TEACHES YOU IN THE STUDENT/TEACHER
MONAD WILL BE THE SAME SOUL THAT WILL BE YOUR
STUDENT.

Another.....

SINCE A MONAD IS A COMPLETE LIFE EXPERIENCE AND
CONSISTS OF A BLOCK OF KNOWLEDGE, THE
INTERRUPTION OF IT REQUIRES THAT YOU START IT
AGAIN IN ANOTHER LIFE AND FINISH IT.  COMPLETION
OF SPECIFIC MONADS IS PART OF THE EVOLUTION OF
THE SOUL, AND IT IS NECESSARY TO COMPLETE THE
MONADS IN ORDER TO ADVANCE THROUGH THE LEVELS
OF THE CYCLES.
  IT IS NOT ENTIRELY INAPT TO SAY THAT
MONADS HAVE SOME OF THE EFFECT ON THE
EVOLUTION OF THE SOUL THAT EDUCATION DOES ON
THE PERSONALITY.  A CHILD MUST LEARN TO DRAW IN
ORDER TO DEVELOP THE EYE-AND-HAND
COORDINATION NECESSARY IN READING AND
WRITING, AND IN A SIMILAR SENSE, THERE ARE
MONADS THAT MUST BE EXPERIENCED BEFORE THE
FRAGMENT IS READY FOR THE NEXT STEP.
WE DO NOT MEAN TO IMPLY THAT THERE IS A SET
STRUCTURE FOR THIS AND THAT EVERYONE, UPON
REACHING MID-CYCLE YOUNG, WILL AUTOMATICALLY
DO THE PARENT SIDE OF THE PARENT/CHILD MONAD.
THE FRAGMENT CHOOSES BETWEEN LIVES WHICH OF
THE INTERPERSONAL MONADS IT WILL ACCOMPLISH.
THE INTRA-PERSONAL ONES, OF COURSE, ARE PART OF
LIFE.
Suppose that for some reason it isn’t possible to complete a
monad — what then?
THAT IS YOUR CHOICE.  YOU WILL DO IT IN SOME
OTHER LIFE.

This one has to do with the internal:

Is there only that one major crisis associated with an
individual life?
NO, THERE ARE OTHERS.
Seven?
OF COURSE.  THE FIRST IS BIRTH, WHEN THE BODY IS
ENSOULED.
The body is ensouled at birth?  Not before?
NO, NOT BEFORE.  THE BEHAVIOR IN UTERO IS A
FUNCTION OF BODY TYPE.
THE SECOND MONAD — OR, IF YOU WOULD PREFER TO
IDENTIFY IT IN ANOTHER WAY, WE WILL CALL IT A
MILESTONE — OCCURS WHEN THE FRAGMENT REALIZES
THAT IT IS SURROUNDED BY OTHERS WHO ARE DISTINCT
AND DIFFERENT FROM ITSELF AND THAT THOSE OTHERS
CAN INFLUENCE IT EMOTIONALLY AND
INTELLECTUALLY AS WELL AS INSTINCTIVELY.  THIS
MILESTONE USUALLY TAKES PLACE AT ABOUT AGE TWO.
OBVIOUSLY, IN VERY YOUNG SOULS THIS RECOGNITION
IS LESS REALIZED THAN IN OLDER SOULS.
THE THIRD MILESTONE OCCURS AT THE ONSET OF
YOUNG ADULTHOOD WHEN THE FRAGMENT IS OUT OF
“THE NEST.” ALL OF CHILDHOOD OCCURS BETWEEN THE
SECOND AND THE THIRD MILESTONE.
THE FOURTH MILESTONE IS THE SO-CALLED MID-LIFE
CRISIS THAT OCCURS AROUND AGE THIRTY-FIVE AT THE
MANIFESTATION OF THE ESSENCE.
THE FIFTH MILESTONE OCCURS IN LIFE WHEN THE
FRAGMENT IS A SENIOR CITIZEN, AND HAS TO DO IN
PART WITH THE RECONCILIATION OF THE ASPIRATIONS
WITH THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THE PARTICULAR
LIFE.
THE SIXTH OCCURS AT THE TIME OF THE ONSET OF
THE FINAL PHYSICAL DETERIORATION AND IS CONCERNED
WITH THE DYNAMICS OF THE DYING PROCESS. 
THE SEVENTH, OF COURSE, IS THE EXIT ITSELF.
IT SHOULD BE NOTED HERE THAT IF THIS PROCESS IS
INTERRUPTED DURING A LIFETIME, FOR INSTANCE BY
VIOLENT OR EARLY DEATH FROM ILLNESS, THE
FRAGMENT RARELY ADVANCES A LEVEL.  A FRAGMENT
CAN USUALLY ADVANCE THROUGH A LEVEL OF
EXPERIENCE ONLY BY GOING THROUGH THE ENTIRE
PROCESS.
Is this inevitably the case?
NO.  THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE AGREEMENTS REQUIRE
OTHER EXPERIENCES.  WE REMIND YOU THAT YOU MUST
EXPERIENCE ALL OF LIFE, SO THERE WILL BE TIMES THAT
YOU WILL CHOOSE TO DIE YOUNG, TO DIE VIOLENTLY,
TO DIE OF ILLNESS, TO INTERRUPT A LEVEL SO THAT
FURTHER LEARNING MAY OCCUR.  THERE ARE ALSO THE
KARMIC RIBBONS TO BE BURNED AND THEY
OCCASIONALLY ENTAIL THE EARLY TERMINATION OF A
LIFE.  BECAUSE OF THIS A FRAGMENT DWILL SOMETIMES
REQUIRE TWO LIVES OF A VERY SIMILAR NATURE TO
COMPLETE THE MONADS.  THERE IS ONE MEMBER OF
THIS CADRE WHOSE PREVIOUS TWO LIVES WERE
ACTUALLY THE COMPLETION OF ONE LIFE.  IN BOTH
LIVES, THE FRAGMENT OPPOSED THE POLITICAL SYSTEM,
WHICH WAS IN UPHEAVAL, FOR HUMANITARIAN AND
PHILOSOPHICAL REASONS, AND IN BOTH LIVES DIED AS
A RESULT, AT AGE TWENTY-SEVEN.  THE LATTER LIFE
WAS A COMPLETION OF THE MONADS OF THE EARLIER
LIFE.
Does this happen very often?
WE WOULD SAY SO, YES.

The Seven Goals / Re: "Growth" Sucks !

Evidently some Essences are more sadistic than others, and no small few prefer to use hunger as an 'effective' goad to Growth!

I can remember close to 120 lives where I, or a member of my family, or someone my Essence owed however many "3-squares" went hungry or made me go hungry.  Growth sucks !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jon, that is not a very fair satement.  You could give some the impression that there is good and evil in relation to essence, which is not the case.  The experiences which any fragments have are for the purpose of growth and learning.  Growth is progress.  Attaching positive or negative conotation to any of it is the work of maya and is done out of fear caused by confusion.  Confusion is the negative pole of growth.

Likewise, focusing all one's time and energy on past lives only prevents one from working on this life.  It would appear that the negative pole (self hatred) of self destruction is plotting the current personality against the essence.  Kind of ingenious when you think about it.

I would enjoy to further discuss your overleaves if you have the time and desire.

Then how does one know what "matters"....right now the only thing that matters to me is understanding any subject I am researching.... BLAH....I guess confusion will run with territory until I figure it out on my own accord.... ;D

What matters would seem to be relative to the individual.  For example, with me, what matters is significant to the moment and how I feel at that time.  Ultimately though, what matters to me would fit under the term "Good work" which is used by Michael.  The reason I say it that way, is because I can feel it.  It feels good when there is growth and not so good when there is stagnation.
